Joint service with Gilcomston: This evening’s service will be a joint service with Gilcomston. This will be held in Bon Accord.

Ladies Book Study: We will meet at Linda's home on 30 October at 7.30pm to study lesson 8 (chapter 11) of the book 'The Pursuit of Holiness' by Jerry Bridges. If anyone would like more details please speak to Wilma.

Lunch club for over 55’s: Lunch club will be held this week on Thursday 2 November at 12.30pm.

November Newsletter: Please send any items for the November 2017 issue of the Bon Accord newsletter to Julie Inglis by Monday 30 October.

Cords and Student hospitality: We have two schemes which link students and young workers with other members of the congregation;

Cords: The idea of this scheme is fairly straightforward; two students are allocated to an older member of the congregation, and the idea is that the trio meet on a regular basis for prayer, discipleship, mentoring and friendship.  Your participation is encouraged!

Student Hospitality: The premise of this is also simple;  a group of students is allocated to willing host families and individuals within the congregation, and the idea is that the hosts invite the students in question to their home for a meal at least once a term.

If you're able and willing to care for and help students and young workers through either or both Cords and Hospitality (which we hope you are) please contact Donald or Anne Smith.

Student and Teens Weekend: This year the “weekend away” for teens and students will be held in Bon Accord! It will take place on Friday 3 and Saturday 4 November. Further details will follow but please keep these days free in your diary.

Why the reformation still matters: Celebrating 500 years of the protestant reformation. This meeting will be held on Tuesday 31 October at 7.30pm in Bon Accord. The speaker will be Dr. David Gibson from Trinity church. Flyers advertising this meeting are available.

Bonfire and Fireworks Night: All are invited to Upper Burnhaugh, Netherley this Friday 3rd November for Bonfire Night. The bonfire will be lit at 6.30pm with pulled pork buns and salad served shortly after that. Fireworks will go off around 8pm. The weather forecast currently looks good but if this changes and it rains or the wind is too strong (or blowing in the direction of the house) we will attempt again on Saturday evening.
Please let us know if you intend coming along. Wear suitable outdoor clothing and footwear and for kids wanting to hold a sparkler, please bring gloves. The bonfire area will be cordoned off but we would ask that young children are supervised by parents at all times during the evening.

November Communion:  We look forward to welcoming the Rev. Iver Martin, Principal of Edinburgh Theological Seminary, as our guest preacher over our Communion weekend (10th to 12th November). The communion weekend is an appropriate occasion for folks to become members of the congregation be that by profession of faith or by transfer from another congregation. If you would like to become a member of the congregation or would like to know a little bit more of what this involves or means please speak to or e-mail David (This email address is being protected from spambots. AIM prayer meeting: A prayer meeting for the work of AIM (the mission which Emma Tidey is hoping to work with) is held monthly in Aberdeen. This is at the home of Mike and Alison Strudwick. The next meeting will be on Monday 30th October at 7.30pm. Anyone with an interest in this work is welcome. If you wish to go further contact details for the Strudwick’s can be had from Isobel Morison.

Food Bank:  We are once again providing a foodbank service from Bon Accord, operating as part of the Aberdeen North Foodbank coordinated by Kings Fellowship Church.  To build up the stock of food donations of non-perishable foods and toiletries would be appreciated, including long-life milk and diluting juice.

A stock of food is held at a central store (currently at Cockers on Lang Stracht) and anyone with a  spare hour or two and willing to help organise the warehouse would be much appreciated.  If you can help with this please let either Anne Smith or Gordon Ferguson know.

Blythswood Shoeboxes: Wrapped shoeboxes are now available in the Foyer Café for anyone who would like to take one (leaflets with all the details and item checklists are available on the entrance table). Please consider filling a box or donating some items and bringing some joy to someone less fortunate this Christmas. Filled boxes should be returned on Sunday 29th October or Sunday 5thNovember
